As IoT network Helium continues to grow, there are a few ways to be a part of the world’s future IoT network — for free.

The Helium network, also known as “The People’s Network” is now expanding to Europe in the summer and will soon be releasing data credits. Now, it has never been a better time to jump on board and help build out the world’s largest LoRaWAN IoT network.

There are currently two exchanges offering revenue-sharing agreements of HNT in exchange for a free hotspot, which usually costs $450. Currently, ZataFi and Emrit are offering host programs that split HNT earnings. Put simply, you will “pay” 50% of your HNT profits if you chose to host through ZataFi; this is similar to Emrit’s hosting program which takes a 15% cut and a 100 token fee for activation.

Helium has expanded to begin offering services in Europe and will soon be rolling out data credits so that companies can begin developing systems to use the Helium network. This is when demand for hotspots is anticipated to increase and pave the way for future IoT networks to compete with Helium.

Recently, the company has begun selling Helium Tabs to hotspot owners exclusively. These Tabs will use their LoRaWAN gateways to locate things like your keys, bags, wallets, etc. These “Tabs” are a great way to locate things that outside bluetooth range, since the Helium network protocol “LongFi” can extend up to 10 miles. Battery life of the Tab’s will last for up to a year.
